Wedding Day Photo Tips From A Georgia Wedding Photographer

Among the many components of a wedding day, perhaps none holds greater significance for our couples than their photos. These images transform into cherished heirlooms and beautiful memories. Essentially, they serve as return tickets to some of the most precious moments of their lives.

Couples place their trust in their photographer to craft these time capsules. It is a delicate dance to do this—one that requires a blend of skill, hands-on experience, and above all, a deep passion for the art of photography.

To celebrate this month of love, we wanted to share some of our photographers’ tips to making memories that last forever.

Let Light Paint the Scene

Photography is defined as the art of painting with light - So we do just that!

At Rivet Events, we love moving our couples into the warm pockets of sunlight, or finding that fantastic window of cascading light. We’ll even ask our couples to "look into the sun" or "towards the light source”.

We apply this same strategy for indoor weddings, too! Using the color of the DJ lights on the dance floor allows us to highlight motion, making for beautiful photos.

Dial It In With Engagement Shoots

Engagement shoots are extremely popular and trendy these days! These photos capture a wonderful & exciting time, as a couple takes the first steps towards their future together. As photographers, we want each and every client to feel at ease, allowing their true personalities and relationships to be captured organically.

An engagement shoot also allows the couple to meet and engage with the photographer before the wedding. The engagement shoot is where we're able to "break the ice" and most of the couples that we develop the closest relationships with are the ones who also did engagement shoots!

For couples who have never been professionally photographed, an engagement session is the perfect place and time to practice for the big wedding day! We’ve even gone ahead and created an Engagement Shoot Location Guide for our couples. Check out some of our favorite Georgia locations to see what resonates the most with you!

Ask For A Family Photo Wishlist

The primary purpose of having a family or group photo list is to assist our team on your wedding day—although it does benefit us both. Given the range of types of photos that couples could want, it’s challenging for us to determine which shots are important for each couple.

By discussing the "can't miss" family photos with our couples, we’re able to identify what you’re really looking for on the day of your wedding, so we can capture the appropriate memories for you that will last a lifetime.

Lock Down The Magic Hour

Magic hour, aka golden hour, is the time to shine! Couples - this is our sweet spot. We should aim to shoot several different looks within this timeframe and change locations.

We try to make sure that we capture the most exceptional portraits of our couples during this time. Two hours before the sun goes down and then 20 minutes after it sets is the best window of time to capture these beautiful, glowing photos.

Chase The Moment

The Rivet Events’ team is ready to scale mountains to make sure we’re getting the right shots for you! Chasing the moment has brought us to awe-inspiring places and permitted us to capture some of our favorite epic wedding photos.

You have the option to book a second photographer, as well, so you have a designated person able to sneak away and “do the most” to make sure all of your memorable moments are documented.

Conclusion

In our world of wedding photography, the ability to capture genuine moments of love goes beyond technical skills. At Rivet Events, our photographers meet with you and plan the perfect day, so you get all of the photos you will cherish forever.
